Just a handful of these 100% linen zipper pouches available! Individually hand-dyed using natural indigo and Japanese Shibori techniques.
Folding the linen and binding it with wood prior to dyeing allows for areas of the fiber to resist the dye color. The fabric is then dipped in an all-natural, organic indigo vat, using a process based on the traditional vats of India, Morocco, and Provence where excess oxygen is removed from the vat using a mineral alkali and a natural reducing agent. This reduction separates the indigo molecule, where it can then attach + bond to fabric.
As the fabric is pulled from the vat, the indigo oxidizes slowly from green to blue, revealing the magical alchemy of plants.
After rinsing and washing, each piece is passed along to local Cape Cod friend and textile designer, Marie of Emerald Acre, who specializes in homewares and accessories created from natural linen and organic cotton.
