Join Hudson Valley flower farmer and florist, Sarah Monteiro, for an intimate evening of floral arranging at Plant Work Shop. Originally from Cape Cod, Sarah has been growing cut flowers to supply her own weddings and event design business, Farmhand Flowers, in New York since 2013. Through the years she has had the great opportunity to learn from some of the best contemporary florists and simultaneously hone her own creative eye.
This course is geared towards all abilities and will dive right into the tenets of floral arranging. Students will learn important tips and tricks on how to create beautiful, natural and garden-inspired arrangements. Sarah will go over mechanics, vase prep and the importance of material choice while also discussing the design elements of color, gesture, asymmetry, and scale.
This class will have a hands-on approach while Sarah demonstrates building a seasonally inspired centerpiece with her own farm-grown flowers. Students will then each create their own arrangement and have a chance to ask questions and receive feedback.
Cost of the course covers all flowers, materials, ceramic vessel and floral snips. Students should bring a box or something to safely carry their arrangements home in.
